Employment opportunities
Introduction
Metapraxis is involved in two main types of activity: consultancy-based client engagements and creating and supporting relevant software tools.

We seek a small number of highly able applicants from a variety of universities and degree subjects each year. Our recruitment policy is to select from the top 5% of international competence and to compensate our employees accordingly. Senior employees become entitled to share options and enjoy a substantial degree of autonomy in the conduct of client assignments or development work.

At Metapraxis we like to cultivate a 'hybrid' attitude in our staff. Every applicant is expected to be articulate and capable of contributing to business meetings as well as knowledgeable about the application of computer technology to the management information requirements of the CEOs and CFOs of large businesses.

Consultancy
Graduate Consultant/Analyst

The general progression is for applicants to learn the 'tools of the trade' in the software implementation side of consultancy. You will then progress to some of the more business and strategically oriented aspects as you gain experience. Working at senior management level you will gain a deep understanding of the business issues facing our client companies. An intensive training course will provide technical, financial and interpersonal skills, and you will be assigned to active project work as soon as you are able. You will relish the responsibility of working at senior level at a very early stage in your career.

Metapraxis is an unconventional organisation in which original thinking is valued as well as hard work, intelligence and commitment.

Our recruitment criteria for graduate applicants include the following:
  • Degree discipline: any serious academic subject.
  • Strong quantitative and IT skills: demonstrated through your education or vacation employment experience.
  • Strong business orientation: either through degree course or via substantial vacation employment and a wide range of reading.
  • Senior management impact: strong interpersonal skills to work very effectively with directors and senior managers.
  • Engaged with the role: keen to make an impact through analysis of issues one finds personally interesting.
  • Inquisitive and proactive: able to work on a largely self-sufficient basis with the minimum of direct supervision.
  • Excellent personal planning skills: able to anticipate, plan and coordinate activities and balance multiple demands on one's time.
  • Adaptable: committed to work flexibly and effectively to work as required outside of the normal office day when necessary.
  • Analytical: able to answer top-level business questions by harvesting the right data and converting it into management insight.
  • Written presentation skills: able to distil insights through well-presented analyses and incisive commentaries.

Software Development
Graduate Software Developer

Successful candidates will be intellectually gifted and adventurous graduates who have an aptitude for software development. Knowledge of technologies such as C++, C#, MFC, XML, .NET, Flash and Flex would be a distinct advantage, as would experience of using Microsoft Visual Studio.NET. In addition, successful candidates should be familiar with the 'standard' Windows applications such as Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Notes and others.

The development group is small, very focused and currently staffed by programmers of the highest calibre. In joining the team, you will need to exhibit a rapid learning curve to understand the concepts and architecture underlying our existing products. You will then be attached to a project team developing new programs and capabilities. The rewards in this division include excellent compensation, a major intellectual challenge as a member of an outstandingly able peer group, and the opportunity of working with some of the world's most advanced commercial software in the rarefied area of strategic management information and business control systems.
