We were very pleased indeed to welcome a distinguished group of senior finance professionals to the Hospital Club in central London, to attend the latest iteration of our Tomorrow's CFO® Seminar series, 'Achieving exceptional performance in competitive environments'.
The event began with a keynote speech from Sir Clive Woodward, former coach of the England Rugby Union team, and head of Team GB at the London Olympics. He was then joined on stage for a panel discussion, by Jacqueline de Rojas, President of techUK, and David Craig, President of Financial and Risk at Thomson Reuters.
Under the banner of the Tomorrow's CFO® initiative, which we run in partnership with The Chartered Institute of Management Accountants, this event sought to bring together highly experienced figures from sport and business to discuss a the pursuit of excellence in increasingly competitive environments. This followed our own sponsorship of the Varsity Match in 2017, where we worked with start-up Sportable to bring together cutting-edge hardware and analytics, and provide real time insights on impact and power for the first time in a game of rugby.
Sir Clive's presentation chimed with both our Varsity partnership and our work as a business, which is to empower leaders with analytics solutions that help them anticipate future opportunities and challenges. In the panel discussion, Jacqueline and David both reflected Sir Clive's remarks on the importance of effective analysis in helping teams perform. One of the most interesting points to emerge from the seminar, was the extent to which this holds true across both sport and business, whether it is Sir Clive's revolutionary use of Prozone analytics in rugby, or David Craig's use of Metapraxis financial analytics to predict future sales outcomes.
